What do Jennifer Anniston, Salma Hayek, Kate Blanchet, Sissy Spacek, Jane Seymour, Rosie O’Donnell and Golf pro Chris Tschetter have in common? Turns out they all use Bach Flower Remedies in times of stress. Discovered by Dr. Edward Bach in the 1930, the Bach Flower Remedies are just as effective today as they were then. Dr. Bach believed that all physical disease originated first on an emotional and Soul Level. Once the moods and emotions had been brought back into balance the physical symptoms often disappeared altogether. There are 38 Bach Flower Remedies, all of which are Mood Remedies and Dr Bach divided these up into seven different categories: for Those Who Have Fear; for Those Who Suffer Uncertainty; for Insufficient Interest in Current Circumstances; for Loneliness; for Oversensitivity to Influences; for Despondency and Despair and for Overcare Of The Welfare Of Others. 23 of the 38 Remedies have also been identified as Type Remedies which reflects the innate way of being specific to the individual. One can be considered to be a single type or a combination of types.
If Little Miss Tuffett of Nursery Rhyme Fame was our client we could consider giving her a couple of Bach Flower Remedies to deal with her shock at the spider sitting down beside her. First to consider would be Mimulus, the remedy given for anyone who can name what it is they are fearful of, in this case we know that it is the spider. We might also add Rock Rose as this is the remedy used for the relief of terror. Star of Bethlehem would be a good addition as this is the remedy used to help clear any trauma and finally Walnut could be considered as it is good for protection. While I can come up with a possible remedy for the situation, the Nursery Rhyme doesn’t give enough information to decide what Type Miss Muffett is.
The best results are achieved when the remedies are chosen with knowledge and care. While there are some remedies that can sound similar on the surface, it is only by understanding the nuances that one can choose the right one. The Bach Flower Remedies have no side effects and are safe for everyone to use from babies to adults to pets and plants.Return to Article Archives
