What are the Caddy Essential Oils in Colour Chemistry Workshops?
Caddy Profiles are a colourful new way of looking at the essential oils used in Aromatherapy. Each profile gives an instant impression of the oil's qualities, while also showing the oil's typical make-up in terms of 11 chemical families. These profiles will enhance your understanding of the nature of the oils and provide simple means of comparing their properties.
This Chemistry Workshop make Chemistry approachable and fun for all.
In addition to offering this workshop once a year in class, the West Coast Institute of Aromatherapy also offer the Caddy Chemistry Workshop as a Home Study Course. |
Who is Rosemary Caddy?
Rosemary Caddy BSc Hons., ARCS, MISPA, graduated from London University with a BSc Honours Degree in Science. As a Reader and Principal Lecturer in Educational Research at Nottingham University she is the author or a range of educational materials for students of many disciplines. All the materials emphasize visual presentation to enable students to see, analyze and understand the world around them. Rosemary is also a qualified clinical aromatherapist running her own clinic and carrying out a program of research on the chemistry of essential oils. She has created two workshops for aromatherapy students to help them understand and visualize their essential oils. The Caddy Classic Profiles, developed as a result of her research enable students to enjoy the chemistry of their oils.

Caddy Chemistry Workshop
2 day workshop 18 Continuing Education Hours
* Elements and Atomic
Structure. An introduction
to the elements and atomic
structure step by step.
Particular attention is paid
to the carbon, hydrogen
and oxygen molecules.
* Compounds and Molecules.
Participants will learn the
relevant definitions of ionic
bonding and covalent
bonding. Examples of ionic
compounds, molecules of
an element and molecular
compounds are illustrated.
* Essential Oil Molecules. To
help participants
understand chemical family
a detailed set of notes and
worksheets takes them
step by step through many
illustrative examples.
By the end of this portion of the workshop participants should have a good grasp of the chemistry of essential oils.

* Certificate of Participation

Caddy Chemistry Home Study Workshop
If you are unable to attend one of our live classes you might like to take advantage of our Caddy Chemistry Home Study Workshop. On successful completion of the exercise you will receive a Certificate for 18 hours Continuing Education.
The outline of the course is the same as the in-class workshop. With this course you will receive the following:
* CD-Rom to lead you through the workshop
* Essential Oils in Colour - Caddy Chemistry Student Pack.
* Essential Oils in Colour, Caddy Classic Profiles by Rosemary Caddy.
* Exercise and Mystery Oil Data Profile to be completed and returned in order to receive a Certificate of Completion.
