Christmas is now just days away and all four candles on my Advent Wreath are lit.
The Fourth Candle is the candle of Peace
What does Peace mean to us? According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary the origin of the word Peace is from : Middle English pees, from Anglo-French pes, pees, from Latin pac-, pax; akin to Latin pacisci to agree It is defined as “a state of tranquility and rest” and “harmony in personal relations”
So what essential oils do you associate with Peace?
In their book Daily Aromatherapy, Transforming the Seasons of Your Life with Essential Oils, Joni Kein and Ruah Bull say that Neroli is the best essential oil for Peace. They say that Neroli:
Promotes a sense of peace and wholeness. Rejuvenates and nurtures the heart center.
They suggest that one could sit quietly and slowly inhale the aroma of Neroli with slow relaxed breaths. Then pause and ask oneself some important questions and jot down your answers and reflections on a piece of paper:
What does ‘being at peace’ mean to me? What makes me feel at peace? What disturbs my sense of peace? How does peacefulness affect my body? Mind? Heart? Spirit? How does being at peace benefit me?
Inhale the aroma of Neroli through your nose again and intend that you are breathing in a sense of peace. Review your answers to the above questions. Reflect and jot down any additional notes. Neroli helps you to experience a sense of peace and to understand its dynamics in your life.
Other Essential Oils you might consider using for Peace include:
Basil: Encourages peace and happiness and stimulates the conscious mind.
German and Roman Chamomile: Promote feeling at peace with your self and transforms negative feelings of self-disgust, anger, loneliness, abandonment and grief.
Lavender: Soothes grief and promotes peace.
Rose: Is used to confer peace.
Ylang Ylang: Promotes feelings of peace and dispels anger and fear.
Neroli is one of my all time favourite essential oils and my Peace blend for this week is : Neroli 5 drops; Rose 1 drop; Lavender 3 drops. I think that for Christmas day I will try combining all four blends together – that should be interesting!
If you are interested in adding any crystals, here are some suggestions from The Crystal Bible, by Judy Hall for crystals she calls peace bringers.
Amber: Encourages peacefulness and develops trust.
Kunzite: Radiates peace and connects one to universal love.
Lapid Lazuli: Releases stress, bringing deep peace.
Rose Quartz: The stone of unconditional love and infinite peace.
Selenite: Instills deep peace.
As the run up to Christmas becomes shorter you might be thinking about creating a special gift for the people in your lives. If you browse through the archives of this blog you will find ideas that I have posted over the years and of course the E-Book Aromatic Gifts For All Ages and All Seasons is full of ideas. You might also think about giving yourself the Gift of Knowledge this year and take an aromatherapy course. These are always available.
