Reiki (pronounced ray-key), is a Japanese word that translates as “Universal Life Energy” (Rei-Universal; Ki-Energy). Dr. Mikao Usui (1865 – 1926) brought Reiki into the world and it is passed on through a very specific system of initiations. A Reiki practitioner has the ability to focus and direct this energy by simply placing their hands o the body of the person receiving treatment. Reiki is not a spiritual belief system and it in no way contradicts any individual religious beliefs. Instead, it is a simple and gentle transfer of energy that accelerates the body’s ability to heal physical and emotional ailments and helps open the mind and spirit to the causes of disease and pain, the necessity for taking responsibility for one’s life and the joys of balanced wellness. Reiki is an intelligent energy that knows where to go in the body. Reiki is not passed on by the practitioner, rather it is drawn through the practitioner by the person receiving the energy so always the right amount of energy for the individual is what comes through. Reiki is always offered by the practitioner with the intention of supporting the highest good of the receiver and it is used and accepted at that level.
Reiki is both a preventative, as well as a healing modality. Over the years it has proven to be helpful for many different conditions and circumstances including the alleviation of pain; the promotion of deep emotional release and healing and the acceleration of physical healing. It helps bring peace to agitated minds; promotes relaxation and balances the energy system.
Reiki can be used effectively on anyone regardless of their age or condition as it is both very gentle as well as being powerful.
In order to use the Reiki energy one must be initiated into the energy. Reiki is passed on to the student by a Reiki Master through a specific attunement process. This process opens the crown, heart and palm chakras and creates a special link between the student and the Reiki source. The Reiki attunment is a powerful spiritual experience and once one has received a Reiki attunement they will have Reiki for the remainder of their life.
Reiki Attunements are available by appointment in small groups or on a one-on-one basis. Beverley has been a Reiki Master since 1996.
